Blue Light Acne Treatment

If you are a long time victim to acne, then it would not strange if you tell me that you have tried all sorts of treatments, but the acne stays.

Don't lose heart or give up yet because experts have always been looking for new ways to make us look more beautiful.

A brand new treatment involving blue light, known as blue light for acne treatment, has been invented and approved by FDA not long ago.

Everyone with mild to moderate acne can take look into it if he or she doesn't respond to other treatments.

Procedure

Before analyzing the pros and cons of the blue light laser acne treatment, it is necessary to take a bird view of the treating procedure and the rationale behind it.

The first step is to apply a sensitizing substance, known as Levulan, to the acne-affected area. After half an hour when the sensitizer is absorbed into the skin, the blue light is shone onto the acne.

The sensitizer within the skin would then draw the blue light in which will kill the acne-causing bacteria and anti-stimulate the sebaceous glands which produce sebum, the skin oil. I have to admit that the whole process is very clever.

Success Rate

Although the blue light treatment for acne is very effective and successful for many people who took part in the clinic trial, the success rate is not 100%, even much lower than that. In other words, you will take risks if you decide to take the blue light therapy for acne.

Side Effects

Although studies show us that acne blue light therapy creates the least possible side effects when it is compared to other treatments, it can not be denied that this remedy is not side-effect-free. I will not go into the redness and driness of the skin which is widely reported because that's the things that everyone expects to happen after being treated.

The Levulan, which will not only react to blue light but light of other colors as well, will remain in the skin for two days. So during this period of time, the treatment taker should be extremely careful about the treated area being exposed to light. Otherwise, burns will happen.

The costs of the treatment should also be taken into consideration. Each treatment is around 200 bucks. And one patient is supposed to take 4 times or more, spreading over weeks. So in total, it will take at least 800 dollars to clear your skin.

The expenditure on the acne blue light therapy treatment itself will have to be extended on the following-up maintenance in order to prevent further breakouts. So the cost is not limited to the above-mentioned.

It hurts. It doesn't heart very much, but there are stinging pains when taking the treatment. Most of the people can get used to it. But it is difficult to stand for some others.

Moveable Blue Light Gadget

To do the blue light acne treatment, you need to go to the doctor's for each session. But due to the invention of a hand-held equipment, you can treat your acne on your own at home. This can be done without the sensitizer. You are supposed to hold the tool up to your face or other acne-affected area for 3 or more minutes once. So the whole process may sound boring and hard. But it offers a good and less expensive althernative to the treatments at the doctor's office.
